New treatments and techniques are helping boost survival rates for ovarian cancer -- and Julie McMullen and Elaine Becker are living proof. Julie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer while she was still in her 20s, and Allegheny Health Network's Dr. Thomas Krivak tailored her treatments in a way that preserved her fertility, with positive results. Elaine Becker, a patient of Allegheny Health Network's Dr. Fredric Price, is a 10-year-plus survivor of ovarian cancer, a disease that killed her mother at a young age. Elaine says "knowledge is power," and her niece, Emily Liszka, is using knowledge about her family background to make decisions about her future. This moving and thought-provoking segment from WQED-TV may change how you look at ovarian cancer.
